A Filipino Professional Tambay

Tambay is actually a Filipino (Philippines) term for by-standers or those people who have no job. In short, tambay people are those who are unemployed.

Unemployment seems the main problem of every country especially Philippines, right? It's because there are only three main source of income of everyone:

(1) Employment. People find a job where they could earn money after fulfilling the tasks. And this is the most popular way of getting money for the family.

If you'll ask the children why they're attending schools, they'll immediately answer you that they want to find work and earn money to help their families.

It seems that finding job is already programmed into the children's mind. And that is the reason why they try hard in school.

(2) Business. Actually, there are only few Filipino who are planning to establish his own business. Usually, those who tend to become businessmen are those sons and daughters of businessmen, if not, they are those sons and daughters of wealthy family.

(3) Other means. Some others are already contented with small scale job for themselves, like passenger vehicle driving, fishing, farming, and others.

But did you know that there are small numbers of unemployed Filipino who are already earning money?

These people actually are not doing any illegal like stealing or selling any illegal drugs. But their income is huge.

What they did is just sit in front of the computer, write articles and publish them into their blogs. And the result is money.

Okay, I will give you one example:

This man actually has his degree in Electrical Engineering but he did not pass the PRC examination for the Registered Electrical Engineer license. And according to him as stated at his blog, Make Money Online Philippines, he is a professional tambay since January 2005.

It's more than 5 years already since he became unemployed. Yet he is earning 2,000 to 3,000 everymonth. This money actually is in dollar not in peso. So if we will convert this to Dollars, then his income ranges from 80,000 to 120,000.

Well, it already more than good for a Filipino tambay like him. Even the manager of the banks here in the Philippines is receiving a salary lower than that.

And from year 2005 up to now, he already has his own Honda XRM motorcycle worth 59,000 Pesos, Kawasaki Barako Tricycle worth 120,000 Pesos and Suzuki Carry 2009 model worth 190,000 Pesos. Besides, his wife is unemployed and his family is just depending on his income.

But he is just an average Filipino Professional Tambay. There are others who are earning more than what he earns. Few of them are Gumer L, Sammy F. and others who earn 175,000 Pesos to 300,000 Pesos a month. These people are all my friends at Facebook.

What I am actually trying to tell you is that unemployment is not actually problem if everyone will try anything that might help them earn money.

I think, teachers and professors in schools must teach their student not to be fully dependent with the companies that are hiring individual to work for them. Students must be taught to find the living in their own ways but legal ways.

Now, if tambays in the Philippines are doing the same just these Filipino Professional Tambay, then I think, unemployment will not be a problem of Philippines.

Besides, the income of these Professional Tambays are coming from abroad. It's like they are working abroad and are just sending their moneys to the Philippines.

I remember, someone called these people as OFW-2. OFW-1 are those Overseas Filipino Workers. These OFW-2 people are Online Filipino Workers. Both the two OFWs are earning money from companies abroad and these money are just sent to the Philippines.

But the number of the OFW-2 is still less compared to the OFW-1. However, they both help the Philippine economy grow. They are our new heroes.

So, if you are unemployed, then why not try to walk on the road that these Professional Tambays are walking.
